Still A Lot To Learn And Nervous Ahead Of Maiden Concert - Hakeem
Former Big Brother Africa contestant Munyaradzi 'Hakeem' Mandaza admits that he is slightly anxious in the lead-up to his debut show at the Grain Lounge and Bar on Friday, March 28.
Hakeem, who recently released a soulful single called 'Gimme a Minute', told the Daily News that he is determined to show he has got what it takes to be a top performer.
"As my first performance, I am yet to find out what people think and that makes me a little nervous," he said.
"I have put a lot of work into it and I hope that it will be well received."
The Chitungwiza-born artiste has promised to use a live band.
"The show starts just after midnight and how I play will depend on the response I get," he said.
The model, who was unprepared to talk about his relationship with Zambian rapper Clementine 'Cleo' Mulenga, says he has always been passionate about music.
"Bodybuilding and modelling were a platform for my career in the entertainment industry but I have always had a passion for music,” he said. “I used to sing in both my school and church choirs.
"One might say it is this spiritual nature of music that captivates me.
"I still model here and there but am focusing on my music at the moment." The former Mr Harare , however, concedes that he is still a music rookie.
"As an upcoming musician there is still a lot to learn," he said.
