Lady May Graces the Cover of Nigeria’s Vergaria Lounge

Just after releasing her much-awaited ‘Crazy Desires’ album, Lady May is making waves outside Namibia once again.
The singing sensation has just graced the September edition of Nigeria’s Vergaria Lounge online magazine.
According to the publication’s CEO, Lady May was selected because of her great contribution to the entertainment industry in Africa, her huge success evident in the number of awards she has won and also for the fact that she has just released a new album.
The publication also carries an interview with Lady May and highlights of her music and entertainment career, giving snapshots of the singers’ colourful life in the music industry. The interview with the Namibian star was conducted about a month ago.
Speaking to The Namibian yesterday, Lady May said that she was still in shock and couldn’t get over the excitement of the Vergaria Lounge cover. “I am still speechless. I didn’t know a huge market like Nigeria was paying attention to my work. They knew about my latest album and are updated with what Lady May is up to,” she enthused.
Although she has been making inroads in the African market, she reveals that the biggest response has been in South Africa where she has gained quite a following. “I didn’t expect the response in Nigeria to be this big”, she adds.
Lady May has enjoyed relative success since she came onto the music scene almost a decade ago in 2004 when she released her maiden album ‘Kamali’. She has won a Sanlam-NBC Music Award and has been nominated and won at the Channel O Video Music Awards. Apart from music, the songstress had reality TV success in 2012 when she made it to the top three of the Big Brother Africa Stargame.
She attributes her success to hard work and professionalism. She also advises fellow artists to embrace digitalisation as it is the future of music sales.
“The music industry is moving towards digitalisation. Let your music rotate digitally and find ways to move your music on this platform as everybody in the world will have access to it,” she says.
At the moment, Lady May’s latest music is available on I-tunes, Amazon and her previous works are available on a Berlin/Germany based online shop called Faluma.
